NEW Winter Cheer Program for 2017 - Registration Now OPEN!

Register today for our NEW winter cheerleading program!   Here's the FAQ on our new exciting offering:

Q: What age divisions will TYFC offer?

A: TYFC winter cheer will offer one U8 division (ages 5-7), one U10 division (ages 8-10) and one U14 division (ages 11-14). Age cutoff is the same as the fall season (age as of July 31, 2016).

Q: How long is the winter cheer season?

A: The TYFC winter cheer season will begin on February 1st and will end on April 15th

Q: When are practices?

A: Practices will be held twice per week on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evenings between 6:30pm and 8:30pm (times staggered depending on team, youngest teams earliest).

Q: Where are practices?

A: Practice will be held at the Greater Lowell Technical High School (indoor gym) in Tyngsboro.

Q: Will we cheer for basketball or another sport?

A: No, winter cheer will be competition-only.

Q: How many competitions will TYFC winter cheer participate in?

A: All teams will compete in two competitions, with a potential third competition for teams that place ‘Level Champs’ in their division at either competition.

Q: What about uniforms?

A: TYFC will provide skirt and shell rental, as we do in the fall season. Those cheerleaders who participated in the fall season may re-use their accessories (crop top, briefs). New cheerleaders will need to purchase these items (about $18). All cheerleaders will receive a winter cheer bow, included in registration. Athletes must wear white cheerleading sneakers (truly flat heel, laces, no high tops). We are happy to make recommendations.

Q: Who will coach?

A: We are fortunate to have most of our fall season coaching staff returning for winter!

Q: What are competitions like?

A: Winter cheer competitions are quite different from those in the fall season. TYFC winter cheer will participate in rec division offerings through Advanced Spirit Cheer. These events host recreational teams, all-star teams, school teams and collegiate teams (all separate divisions) and are very exciting! TYFC will compete against AYC rivals, Pop Warner teams and other recreational programs. Routines are music-only.

Q: Where are competitions?

A: The Ladybug Classic will be held on the UNH campus in Durham, NH on March 18th. The East Coast Classic will be held in Providence, RI on April 1st. Teams that make it to Advanced Spirit Nationals will attend in Providence, RI on April 15th.

Q: What is the cost?

A: The cost to register for TYFC winter cheer is $200 per cheerleader. This cost includes competition fees, charges for practice space/equipment, operational expenses, wintercheer t-shirt and a new bow.

Q: Where and when can I register?

A: Click here to register for our winter cheer program between 12/05/2016 and 01/15/2017. Please note that, per AYC guidelines, the winter cheerleading program must be made up of 80% returning fall season athletes and no more than 20% new athletes. Fall season cheerleaders are guaranteed a spot. New cheerleaders will be wait listed and accepted on a first-registered, first-served basis.
